It’s our third year of operations as MPS Systems Asia, and I’m pleased with the progress we made so far.

In 2018, we opened our doors in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and began with a team of two: me and George Tan. It was a year of building the organization, appointing new agents, and increasing MPS awareness with label printers in Asia.

Then in 2019 we fine-tuned with increased skills, sold machines, and matured as a profitable organization and a team of seven. The message to the industry was made clear – MPS Systems Asia is here to stay.

So, what’s in store for 2020? We’re geared for further growth. And, Beyond the Machine is a big part of why.

Looking back at 2019

At the beginning of 2019 we moved into a new building with a seminar area and ample showroom space.

We further developed our agent network with consolidating Australia and New Zealand under one agent with Nekkorb Solutions, and signed new agents in Malaysia (Voraustechnik), China (Arisen) and South Korea (Müller Korea).

A number of new presses were sold including the first SYMJET in Australia, a multi-substrate flexo press to Indonesian printer Ohtomi, two EF flexo presses in Taiwan, and signed several press sales at Labelexpo Europe.

MPS Systems Asia also made a strong impression at many events in 2019.

At SHIFT_019 in New Delhi I spoke about the impact & benefits of digital workflows and IOT in label printing; we met many customers and were joined by local agents on the MPS stand at Labelexpo Europe; at the 2019 Taiwan Seminar on Packaging and Special Printing Technology George Tan, represented MPS Systems Asia as one of the presenters to a full house; and we joined Arisen on their stand at Labelexpo Asia in Shanghai.

What’s coming in 2020

As part of our growth plan, we began the year with hiring a Regional Print Instructor who will train our customers to run different label applications on their MPS narrow web flexo presses and run tests and demonstrations for customers on our showroom printing press (expected in the later half of this year). Stay tuned for the offical introduction!

The industry will see us at Labelexpo Southeast Asia May 7-9 in Bangkok, Thailand where our agent C. Illies will join us on stand A26; Labelexpo India October 29 – November 1 with our local agent Genius Flexo Machinery; and SHIFT_020 in Vietnam August 26-27.

We’re also bringing together our network of agents for a regional meeting, which will include training sessions and provide an opportunity to share application knowledge and installation successes in an interactive way.

Growth in Asia with Beyond the Machine

Initially introduced to the industry at Labelexpo Europe, the main message of Beyond the Machine is this: MPS offers more than just a printing press.

With a focus on best-in-class Service, guaranteed Productivity, outstanding Applications and up-to-date Connectivity innovations, we prove that an MPS press is only a tool that helps printers achieve the best and complete lifecycle performance from their investment.

What’s sets MPS apart in the industry is our ‘Talk to me’ connectivity technology, a platform now included with every new MPS printing press.

Talk to me connects printing machines and workflow with Management Information Systems (MIS) for real-time data exchange and control. Data from the MIS to press includes all job-related machine settings and tooling information presented to the operator in the job queue. Data from the press to MIS consists of the printing speed, metres/yards printed (order status), waste produced (waste sheets), set-up and printing time.

Without data, you don’t know where you are

MPS presses provide the data, which becomes your guide.

With this data intelligence from our presses, we can determine where your bottlenecks are. Better performance - in areas of job changeovers, services, operator training and measuring results to create process and workflow improvements for the printing machine and more efficient production - is made possible.

We’re leading the market with our powerful connectivity platform, and in Asia, this is where I see the most growth potential. An increasing number of printers here are seeking high quality flexo presses – the additional benefit of connectivity will take their business to new heights and secure their future.

Achieving top performance from your MPS press investment is what Beyond the Machine is all about.
