I love it when a plan comes together!

The MPS Grand Prix of Performance was successfully held on June 10th, 2021. It was our first hosted virtual event that included a unique 8-hour live label production challenge streamed throughout the day on YouTube.

Over 300 participants from more than 20 countries around the world witnessed the reveal of MPS’ new branding that our team has been working on behind the scenes: Connect to Grow!

This event is by far the most special event I've organized. With a great team, of course.

I thank all participants for joining us. I hope you enjoyed the show!

Let’s look back at the main highlights:

The big reveal: MPS’ new logo and branding

While MPS continues to expand, we’re moving Beyond the Machine by offering more than just a high-class printing press. With our brand promise – Connect to Grow – we developed a new logo and new brand identity. A new website is also in development! You can view preliminary pages here: www.mps-printing.com

8-hour Live Performance Challenge

To practise what MPS preaches in their new vision, we turned the MPS Technology & Expertise Center into a real label production plant running jobs provided by Dutch printing houses Eshuis, GT-Etiketten & Labels and EDNN. Introduced was MPSConnect, to show how data from the entire production was collected and transformed into informative insights.

Not a perfectly prepared demonstration, but the real deal, where real mistakes are made by real people!

stream scrnshtHans Poortinga, Global Manager Technology and Expertise Centres and Eric Hoendervangers, co-founder of MPS shared live updates of real production data with participants throughout the event.

Shown was exactly what was happening with the printing press including speed, job change-over time, downtime, waste, total production, and more insights. All the data was displayed in meaningful significant figures from hours down to minutes.

Expert talks

We invited special guests to speak during the event: former Formula 1 driver and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Jan Lammers and the IoT expert, Koen Uyttenhove.

With the rapid changes in IoT, connectivity has become very important in our business, to strive for maximum performance and maximize return of investment. Jan Lammers shared his view on how to run your business like Formula One team, while Koen Uyttenhove talked about the successful use of IoT & data in the agricultural industry.

Jan Lammers in MPS-1“If you don’t win, you loose!” said Jan about winning teams. I think it’s a great inspiration for us all: always aim for maximum results.

For me, it was an honour to meet Jan Lammers in person! He’s a well-known driver, especially here in the Netherlands. Of course, my colleague Elice and I had to take a picture together with him .

Tips and tricks for performance improvement

In two sessions with four seminars, participants got tips and tricks on performance improvement from the MPS experts.

Frank ten Broeke explained how to treat a change-over like an F1 pit stop; Hans Poortinga showed the effects of running higher speeds without affecting print quality; Atze Bosma demonstrated how to calculate TCO of the printing press; and Leopold der Nederlanden explained how to measure and reduce waste with best practices.

All these tips and tricks for performance improvement explained how to increase your press capacity and productivity, increase turnover, save more cost, and ultimately increase profits!

There’re many more highlights from the event. If you joined us, you witnessed our new Connect to Grow vision and how we can grow your business - together.
