We’re returning to Chicago, ready to break more records, and demonstrate two future-ready presses for the narrow web industry.

What you’ll see: EF SYMJET digital/flexo hybrid solution

Hybrid is the hottest talk of the town - come witness for yourself the key to future profitability live on our stand!

The innovative EF SYMJET hybrid solution combines the stability of the MPS EF flexo platform with the integrated well-proven Domino N610i inkjet engine, allowing converters to combine flexo and digital printing as well as converting, all in one pass.

The 13-colour press we’ll have on show (6-colour flexo, 7-colour inkjet) will feature a unique operator-controlled demonstration by Hans Poortinga who will simultaneously operate and present features of the solution, to show how simple it is to operate.

To show how the press can operate as flexo, digital or both modes together, Hans will demonstrate the press’s flexibility in combination jobs – with identical images printed both digitally and flexographically.

Plate roller technology for the flexo units for the ultimate in print image quality, developed specially for the North American market, will also be a feature of this hybrid press.

In addition to all the embellishments made possible with this solution (think die cutting, laminating, cold foil and more), you’ll see other efficiency advantages of a hybrid solution that only requires only one integrated machine for a single operator to run.

What you’ll see: EF--APC fully-automated flexo press with connectivity

Thirteen leading industry hardware, software and materials suppliers (including MPS!) are taking part in the ground-breaking Automation Arena at this year’s Labelexpo Americas – a brand new feature which has never been seen before at a trade show in the Americas.

Presented will be two automated press lines for digital (label) and conventional (shrink sleeve) label production, from job creation through to pre-press, printing, finishing and invoicing.

In the Automation Arena, MPS will demonstrate the EF-APC advanced machine with 100% print automation, for both sleeves as well as anilox positioning. A valuable feature of this automated flexo solution is the MPS ‘talk to me’ connectivity technology, for Industry 4.0 implementation.

New opportunities with shrink sleeves

As traditional label printers are looking to diversify in a very competitive landscape, shrink sleeve labeling is an attractive new market to pursue. The automated shrink sleeve production element of the Automation Arena, a world first at a trade show, is the ideal opportunity for printers to see a complete automated production process and explore this technology further.

Conventional flexo press shrink sleeve print runs will be produced on our EF 10-colour fully automated press featuring full-servo control, no gear cylinder connection, UV, hot-air and LED drying technology, intelligent pressure setting and zero waste roll change — and will utilize print sleeves which are lighter (thus easier for your operator to handle) and provide a lower cost investment.  

The EF cylinder version press can also adapt to various tooling technology, which brings the advantage of not having to invest in new tooling when replacing an older press.

Frank Laughlin, who recently joined MPS Systems North America as Area Sales Manager will also be there to meet the industry. With over 25 years’ experience at various North American converters as well as press manufacturers, Frank is very familiar with the printing industry and range of technologies
