It’s been a busy tradeshow season this summer for the MPS Systems Asia team, with participation at the International Graphic Art Show (IGAS) in Japan, Taipei Plas in Taiwan, and at the Korea International Printing Machinery & Equipment Show (KIPES).
Alongside our agents at all three events, we drew attention from a number of label printers and converters and had the opportunity to educate all markets on the value MPS brings in the world of flexo printing.
Here’s a recap of all the highlights!
IGAS (Japan)
Held July 26-31 in Tokyo, we joined our agent T&K Toka (also a reputable ink manufacturer) on their stand at IGAS. Our range of label samples printed on an MPS flexo press drove show visitors on the stand, curious to learn more about what flexo printing can offer.
IGAS also provided the opportunity to meet our other agents in Asia, such as Ahmad Sopian of Pt. IDG attending the show from Indonesia.
Taipei Plas (Taiwan)
From August 15-19, George Tan and I were seen at Taipei Plas on Chimeng Packaging's stand, our first new agent we brought on board in Asia since the opening of the dedicated MPS Systems Asia office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Taipei Plas is a flexible packaging and plastics show, so we brought along a number of flexible packaging samples to display, including labels printed with silk screen, a technique that offers a range of graphic advantages such as metallic colours, strong opaques, tactile warning symbols, special varnishes, and scratch-off inks. Leopold der Nederlanden explains the advantages of screen printing in this blog.
We left Taipei Plas with many new prospects and appreciate our agent Kimer Lee’s hospitality on stand.
KIPES (Korea)
A 4-day event held August 29 - September 1, KIPES was the ultimate attention-grabber of our tradeshow presence, with a debut appearance of the MPS EF-530 (8 colour) flexo press printing shrink sleeves and wrap around labels on our agent Sanki’s booth.
Running top speed at 200m/min with 38-micron PET film, the EF-530 flexo press printed wrap around labels with micro-text, demonstrating to gathered crowds on stand the advantages of flexo printing for the ultimate in design possibilities, shelf appeal and printing productivity.
The world of possibilities with flexo
Seeing the reaction of show visitors was especially rewarding for me – they were literally laughing out loud and slapping shoulders in awe, and reaching for their mobile phones to snap pictures and videos. You can get a glimpse of the reaction I saw in this video.
Another engaging feature of the press was its printing with UV LED curing system, provided by the Korean company UV Tech Co., that showed curing of ink in a more economic way. Educating show visitors what an MPS flexo press can print, including pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) labels, combining flexo with gravure, film, solvent, UV flexo was also achieved by presenting the press live at KIPES.
An enormous amount of effort went into the success of KIPES, and we are especially grateful to our customer Dongil, proud owner of the EF-530 press we demonstrated, and to our agent Sanki for welcoming us on their stand.
If you stopped by at one of the above shows to meet MPS, thank you!
Hear George speak about connectivity in China
Up next in our 2018 tradeshow participation is the International Printing & Packaging Forum, held October 26 in Shanghai, China where George Tan will present the challenges and opportunities of bringing the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 to label printing.
New addition to MPS Systems Asia team
We recently hired an applications specialist with in-depth knowledge of label applications, prepress, and workflows who is joining our team on November 1! Details will be announced soon.
We’re still recruiting for a talented office and marketing coordinator to join our team at headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. If you’re interested in the position, or know someone that is, reach out to me here.
It’s been an exciting year for MPS Systems Asia, and we have lots of exciting plans in store in the months ahead!
